Danny Lopez gave Morelia Dallana Carrillo from Geo Next Generation High School a front row seat to what a typical day is like as VP for External Affairs and Corporate Communications. She sat in on a meeting for their community outreach program for the Pacers foundation. Explaining his role on the team developing communications strategies and media strategies, Danny shared that as an organization they realized that the needs of the community have changed. “ It’s important to be a lot more intentional on how we use our resources… it’s important to know that the resources reach the people that we want to impact across the state,” he stated.
Morelia asked what he enjoys most about his job, he answered saying “There are so many things… fun memories that we create to make people happy… and the most interesting part is watching these [moments] come together, seeing how we put that together is an incredible thing.”
Danny’s final words to Morelia were “Do whatever you can to network.Find people who are older and more experienced that could be a mentor to you. Invite them for coffee like you are doing now. Ask them questions: How did you get to this point? What kinds of things have you done to prepare you to get to where you are… if you are networking right you are always hearing about opportunities… all of a sudden you’ve got a network of people to help you.”
