Herbal Goodness – Reimagining Wellness, Q&A with Dr Unoma Okorafor

Founder & CEO OF Herbal Goodness

Tell us about Herbal Goodness

Dr. Unoma Okorafor:

As a native Nigerian, I was raised on the rich goodness of fresh, organic papayas straight from the trees. When I became pregnant, I sought out similar papaya products to support my health, only to be shocked by the prevalence of GMO varieties in the US market. This sparked a personal journey to create Herbal Goodness, founded in 2011.

Our mission is to share the incredible health benefits of natural, organic superfruits, which I grew up with, with the world. We source and manufacture only the highest quality ingredients, crafting a range of products including herbal teas, supplements, extracts, smoothie powders, and energy bars. At Herbal Goodness, we’re passionate about educating and inspiring individuals to embrace a holistic lifestyle, respect Mother Earth, and experience the transformative power of superfruits like Papaya, Graviola, Moringa, Bamboo, Guayusa, and Guava.

You started in Computer Science, what motivated this pivot into wellness?

My journey began with a passion for problem-solving and technology, leading me to pursue Computer Science. However, as I navigated my career, I realized my true calling lay in promoting holistic health and wellness. This shift was inspired by a personal health experience where I discovered the transformative power of natural remedies and herbal supplements. This personal revelation ignited a desire to help others achieve optimal health through nature’s gifts, ultimately leading me to establish Herbal Goodness. Combining my tech background with a passion for wellness allows me to innovate and effectively reach and help more people.

What is the importance of using organic and non-GMO ingredients in your products?

Dr. Unoma Okorafor

When it comes to our products, using organic and non-GMO ingredients is crucial for several reasons that align with our commitment to quality, sustainability, and consumer health.

Organic and non-GMO ingredients offer health benefits by avoiding synthetic pesticides, herbicides, and genetically modified organisms, which can have potential health risks. This means our customers receive safer and healthier products.

Organic farming practices result in ingredients with higher nutritional value, providing more vitamins, minerals, and antioxidants for better overall health and wellness. It is more sustainable and environmentally friendly, promoting soil health, water conservation, and biodiversity. By using organic ingredients, we support farming methods that protect the environment and promote long-term ecological balance. Organic and non-GMO certifications provide assurance and transparency, building trust with our customers and reinforcing our commitment to quality and safety. Organic farming practices often promote fair labor practices and better working conditions for farm workers, aligning with our company values.

Using non-GMO ingredients ensures our products don’t contain genetically modified organisms, appealing to health-conscious consumers who prefer natural ingredients.

Organic ingredients often have superior taste and quality, enhancing customer satisfaction and loyalty.

Purchasing organic ingredients supports organic farmers and encourages the growth of the organic agriculture sector, sustaining and expanding the organic farming community.

By prioritizing organic and non-GMO ingredients, we ensure our products meet the highest standards of quality and safety while supporting the health of our customers and the well-being of the environment, which is integral to our brand identity and mission.
