Innovations Shaping Tomorrow

Kunal Gupta, CEO of Nutra-Med, highlighted the importance of having a good support system and talked about the most valuable lessons he’s learned in his journey.

Surround yourself with people smarter than you, people who can help you see your blind spots, people who make you a better person. People want to genuinely help you, and everybody has something to offer you. I used my network of customers and vendors and asked questions, allowing them to share best practices, and telling them my challenges. I observed while still in high school, by watching my dad work on the packaging line with the team.  He always taught me to work with the team, to lead by example, and to understand and value the work every person in the organization does.  You can lead an organization if you don’t understand it.  And the best way to show respect to your team is to work alongside them.

People enjoy sharing their knowledge and wisdom with you. As long as you’re respectful about it, they don’t even expect anything in return. And, the other nice thing about that is they then have a vested interest in your success. In addition, fail fast, learn from your mistakes but don’t dwell on them, and move forward.

Nutra Med is a pharmaceutical contract packager. The process involves taking solid-dose medications like tablets, capsules, and soft gels and placing them into the final packaging that consumers purchase in stores, our customers are drug manufacturers. Looking ahead Nutra Med aims to expand beyond its success as a pharmaceutical contract packager to become a comprehensive pharmaceutical services provider. This includes diversifying into manufacturing, distribution, and lab services by leveraging its proven model of service and quality. Growth will involve both organic and inorganic strategies, with a focus on meeting customer demands, scaling operations, building a stronger team, and achieving greater vertical integration. The goal is to innovate and effectively grow within its niche in the pharmaceutical services industry. Trust your instincts!

Charlynda Scales, founder of Mutt’s Sauce, shared details about an initiative she and her partners have launched called 6888 Kitchen Incubator. According to Scales, the idea began with a desire to serve the community. The concept for the premiere project, 6888 Kitchen Incubator, is being spearheaded by three local businesswomen: Charlynda Scales, founder and CEO of Mutt’s Sauce; Dabriah Rice, owner of Divine Catering and Events; and Jamaica White, a self-described “serial entrepreneur” with a background in business development. The three were brought together by the Downtown Dayton Partnership, united by a shared belief in the need for a shared kitchen concept in the downtown area.

The kitchen will be used primarily by food startups and entrepreneurial chefs, but this space could also be used for food trucks or caterers to prep meals before their events downtown. Not only will this be a space for people to cook, but the space will also be used for events and classes. There will also be the opportunity to purchase food made from the kitchen.  The current focus is getting the word out about this venture and establishing a crowdfunding campaign to raise the remaining funds for the project. Of the $6M buildout, we successfully raised $4.3M with zero debt. We opened in March 2024, and currently have 9 business owners operating in the space, with a current capacity of 25.

Our namesake is The “Six Triple Eight”: Paying respect to American heroes. The 6888th was the first and only all-Black Female Women’s Army Corps (WAC) unit to be deployed overseas during WWII.

The unit was active from 1945 to 1946 and consisted of 855 minority women under the Command of Major Charity Adams (resident of Dayton OH), Captains Mary F. Kearney and Bernice G. Henderson. When asked if the were plans to expand the project she said “The business model would work in any city that has a food desert or food insecurity issue. We would gladly consult on a project or, down the road, help develop the concept in other locations”

Beyond having started the 6888 Kitchen for the Community with her partners, Charlynda is also the founder and owner of Mutt’s Sauce a company inspired by her late grandfather Charlie “Mutt” Ferrell.  This was a journey of preserving and protecting his cherished recipe. After her grandfather’s passing, the family thought the 1956 sauce recipe was lost until her mother revealed she had been entrusted with it. The single written copy, stored in her grandfather’s wallet, became the catalyst for her dream of bottling and sharing the sauce.

Deepak Jose, Global Data, Analytics & AI Leader, outlines the what who and why of generative AI.

The emergence of Generative AI technologies, such as those underpinning platforms like ChatGPT, has marked a pivotal inflection point in AI’s adoption and its potential to transform work and reinvent business across the spectrum. Generative AI’s capability to understand context, infer intent, and demonstrate creativity has fundamentally altered the landscape of interaction between humans and AI. This evolution emphasizes the crucial role of Prompt Engineering in harnessing these technologies for innovation, productivity, and competitive advantage.

Prompt Engineering, as a discipline, plays a critical role in shaping how Generative AI technologies like Large Language Models (LLMs) are directed to perform tasks or generate outputs. This specialized field is becoming increasingly important for its potential to amplify the capabilities of AI ecosystems, making them more adaptable, precise, and aligned with specific business goals.

WHY IT MATTERS

With 97% of organizations expecting generative AI to be transformative, the landscape of significant investment in generative AI is still evolving. Many industries and organizations are at various stages of adoption and operational integration. Yet, the ability to engineer prompts effectively can determine the success of AI applications in diverse scenarios, from content generation to complex problem-solving or application development.

The emphasis on Prompt Engineering underscores a broader trend: Businesses are becoming increasingly aware of generative AI’s capabilities, and the focus is shifting towards harnessing these embedded technologies across the enterprise in ways that align closer with specific business outcomes and operational needs. Planning for the future by taking a strategic, nuanced, and iterative approach to engineering prompts could become a key differentiator in how effectively organizations can leverage AI to their benefit.

Chanel Di Blasi expanded on tech’s impact on our everyday lives and specifically ther real estate industry where tehc has made things easier in some ways and is catering to a more tech-savvy clientele.

The real estate sector is not immune to the digital revolution, which is impacting many industries’ services and productivity levels.   This ongoing technological shift is transforming the real estate industry, resulting in the plausible idea that many traditional forms of service may become obsolete.  This idea is led by the belief that the digital transformation of the real estate industry is driving efficiency and improving transparency, even resulting in the portmanteau, “Proptech,” a blending of the words property and technology.

A young, tech-oriented generation has fully embraced this digital revolution  – from artificial intelligence and cloud computing to mobile solutions and data analytics – resulting in more and more real estate companies’ adaptation of new and more sophisticated technologies to gain a competitive edge.

Unlike the Industrial Revolution and other obsolete industries throughout history, the digital revolution in the real estate industry will result in professionals having to pivot and reinvent their services in a changing industry. Part of the pivot will require real estate professionals to look at digital advancements as a tool to provide streamlined services rather than viewing digital advancements as an enemy of the industry. Most of the advancements to date allow for professionals to vastly reduce overhead costs and time, aid in accuracy, and execute services remotely without the need to physically be present.

The digital revolution is not going anywhere – it’s growing and evolving, creating remarkable change and opportunity.  For real estate professionals – and other related industries – it is time to embrace the change and learn how to use these powerful tools to gain a competitive edge.
